from the date of your arrival in the Colony;

and that, if it is established to the satis-

faction of the governor that you are not

qualified for efficient service there the

Governor, subject to the confirmation of

the Secretary of State, will have full power

to cancel your appointment at any time within

the s id five years without giving you any

further compensation than a passage back to

England, which will be granted only if the

Governor is satisfied that you have, b.

your good conduct, deserved it. If not

previously terminated, the appointment will

cease at the end of the said five years,

unless it be expressly continueu. If it is

continued you will be placed on the pension-

able establishm nt of the Colony and your

sulary will be raised to £150 a year on your

completing six years service dating from your

arrival in Hong Kong.
